What to do in Bangkok?

2019-02-03 0

Come to the capital of the ‘land of smiles’ and learn what it is like to enjoy a holiday in one of the craziest cities on earth. Bangkok is known for its big shopping malls, great food and lively nightlife. During the day you can relax next to a pool or have a beer in a bar. In the evening there are plenty of go-go bars and red-light districts to keep you busy. For those who don’t mind an adventure and can’t wait to escape the daily grind of the Western World, Bangkok is a must-visit.

1. Soi Cowboy

Flickering neon lights, booze and girls in lingerie everywhere: Soi Cowboy is by far the most famous street in Bangkok. Take a peek at Bangkok’s red-light district and enjoy a beer in one of the countless go-go bars. Even though the street is only 150 meters long, a lot happens there after sunset. There are live bands, live football games and many girls to keep you company!

2. Watch a Muay Thai fight

Muay Thai (or thaiboxing) originates from Thailand. That’s why there are many places you can see the fights. To see a real fight with really great athletes, go to Rajadamnern Stadium or Lumpini Stadium. If you just want to see a tourist fight, there are fights all around Bangkok. Go to a bar in a tourist area and look for a thaiboxing ring. When you go to a tourist fight, you can often just pull up a chair and sit right next to the ring.

3. Massage salons

One of the main reasons to visit Bangkok is because you can get the best Thai massages at an incredibly low price! There’s a massage salon at the corner of every street and you can recognize the salons by the multiple girls who are sitting outside and probably calling you to come inside. You can choose which girl you like and you can decide what kind of massage it is that you want. Whether it is a scalp massage, a full body massage or a massage with a happy ending: everything is possible in Bangkok!

4. Nana

Nana offers a mix of good food, little markets and pretty girls. It is also known as an adults playground, since adults can basically find anything they want here. Visit soi 3 for the Middle Eastern enclave ‘Little Arabia’ and have some delicious Middle Eastern or Indian street food. Stroll around and look for souvenirs, clothes and sex toys. Go to Nana Plaza, located in soi 4, if you are looking for a naughty experience. This is a no-family zone, so you’ll only see adults here who are up for a night of fun.

5. Shopping malls

There are many big shopping malls in Bangkok. Whether you are poor or very wealthy, there is an air-conditioned building full of good stuff suitable for everyone there! Go to MBK or Paintip Plaza if you are looking for cheap electronics. Visit Terminal 21, Siam Center or Siam Discovery if you are looking for famous stores such as H&M, Mango and Zara. Central Embassy is one of Bangkok’s newest and immensely luxurious shopping malls that is even worth visiting if you are low on cash, just to see the interior!

6. Chatuchak Weekend Market

Visit the Chatuchak Weekend Market if you like to stroll around and find everything cheap, from fake counterparts to phones. It is one of the biggest markets of Asia and you can spend days there without even seeing everything. Enjoy the Thai food or look for a Spanish man with a hugh pan if you want to eat Chatuchak’s famous paella. There is cheap stuff here for everyone, so make sure to always haggle over the price to make sure you get the best deal. Visit the market in the evening or later in the afternoon, because at noon it can get pretty hot there and there is no such thing as air-conditioning. If you are looking for something specific, make sure to bring a map, otherwise you might get lost!

7. Ping pong shows

I think everyone should see a ping pong show once in Bangkok! It is fun, it is shocking, and it definitely is something you can tell your friends about when you go home again. A couple of good ping pong show bars are located in Phat Phong. The waitresses are barely wearing any clothing and the ambiance is great. You can have a beer and sometimes even watch the show for free. Just be aware of scams, because of lot of bars may try to charge you too much for your beers. Always try to find out what the price of your visit is going to be beforehand.
